Everything you need to know to run smart Fiverr Ads
If you want to boost your sales on Fiverr, visibility is key. The more eyes you can get on your Gig, the more chances you have to get orders. While there are several ways to boost your visibility, a great way to do so is by turning on Fiverr Ads.
Fiverr Ads is a tool that allows eligible sellers to bid for premium ad space across the platform, including search results, clients’ inboxes, and more. They work on a pay-per-click (PPC) model, meaning you only pay when someone actually clicks on your gig.
It’s a great way to increase your exposure but it’s certainly not a quick fix that will guarantee you sales. To really make them work for you, you need a solid Gig that can convert clicks into clients.

Setting proper expectations

Fiverr Ads performance is closely tied to market demand. If you’re in a highly competitive subcategory, you may see intense competition for Ad impressions. On the other hand, if you have a gig with low demand and minimal search volume, Ads won’t magically bring a flood of traffic either. That’s why understanding market trends and having a solid keyword strategy is important. You can use the Keyword Research tool (available to Seller Plus members), or study your competitors to make sure you're incorporating the most relevant titles and tags in your gigs to optimize them for reach.
Furthermore, Fiverr Ads cannot save a poorly performing Gig. Promoting a Gig that’s not ready is like pouring money into a leaky bucket. Before turning on Ads, make sure your Gig is ready to impress:
  • Polished visuals: Your gig image should be clean, professional, and eye-catching to stand out from the competition.
  • Strong Gig content: Your description and FAQs should be easy to understand, well-written, and persuasive. Further, your portfolio should showcase some of your most impressive work.
  • Good client track record: Buyers are more likely to convert when they see positive reviews on your page. Having poor ratings or negative feedback can work against you, even after the client clicks your Ad. This could even impact how often Fiverr’s system promotes your gig in the first place.
Overall, think of it like this: A restaurant can spend thousands of dollars on flashy ads, but if the host is unprofessional or the place looks rundown, customers may think twice about spending money there upon arrival. Ads bring people to the door, but it’s up to you to make them want to stay and purchase.

Best practices for running Fiverr Ads

Once your gig is ready to run ads, here’s how to do it smartly:
  • Promote what’s already working: Focus on gigs that already perform well organically. Ads amplify success, they don’t fix weak Gigs.
  • Monitor performance: Keep an eye on impressions, clicks, and conversions. If your clicks are low, consider revisiting your Gig image or title. If your conversion rate is low, you may want to revisit your Gig page or packages.
  • Give it time: Just as with the organic marketplace, it is expected that your ad performance will fluctuate from month to month. To truly get a sense of how your Ads are performing, let them run for about 30 days. After that, you can take a moment to evaluate whether your spending aligns with your returns. Decide to increase, decrease, or keep it the same based on your findings.
  • Budget wisely: Fiverr will suggest a recommended budget when setting up your Ads, but ultimately, you should spend what you’re comfortable with. The more you invest, the more visibility you’ll get, but of course, be wise about how much you’re spending. Also, note that in some countries, Ads are taxed monthly, so be sure to factor that into your budget. (Learn more about taxes here.)
Fiverr Ads is a great tool for freelancers looking to boost their performance, but it’s important to use them strategically. Remember, Ads are meant to amplify what’s already working, not fix what isn’t. So be intentional. Make sure your Gig is fully optimized, and focus on delivering great service to every client you work with.
When you start from a strong foundation, Fiverr Ads can help more of the right buyers discover your services and hire you.
